If anything Dervish will get some discrimination the first month or so becuase there will be 1000 people playing that class in every district at any given time.

I plan on getting all the info I can on both classes during the event (because I lack that much of a life)
when factions came out, i focused my time trying to find ways to counter the new classes instead of actually playing them, then after people realized they were not worth all the time and use, then i tried them out

i plan to do the same with nightfall

(this post is directed towars pvp, i'll play them to death in pve lol)

I get the feeling that these transformations of the dervishes are like ritualist weapon spells that they cast on them selves. So its not like they will be unbeatable. Every profession has its weak spots that can be taken advantage of. Like a mesmer can stop a warrior tank from using signets such as doylak signet and healing signet. And as for armor stats we don't know what they will be. But in assumption they will probably be higher than spellcasters but lower than warrior.

Just wait until you are using them. The difference should be obvious to us all after we've used them.

Why do they give dervishes scythe and hood? That kinda package will attract everyone to play this class. Believe me..if paragons get the scythe and hood, I would bet the number of the new classes' players will be more even , which is better imho.

I get some itching feeling that the god transformation has some serious drawbacks, like making you unable to use your other profession's skills, and/or using an unholy amount of Energy, with a hefty drain on what you have left.

It's also likely something that relies on their prime stat, so no secondary gods.

Personally I look forward more to these two classes than I did the factions ones. Dervish sounds interesting to me, just have to wait and see though of course...

I'm seriously starting to hate the close-minded people who say dervish = w/mo and paragon = ranger/warrior with spears...Sheesh, don't freaking judge them until you try them.

Well everybody remember, the first days of prophs the war armour looked preety weak but we u lloked at the stats actually shaped up pretty well, so maybe the dervish is the same, weak looking armour but with vey considerable stats, so dont write them off quite yet.

Also on the Paragon front i think theysound very much as though they are geared towards Prot monk sorta angle cuz GW is seriously lacking prot. monks at the moment becuz all everybody ever wants is a healing monk, so i think Paragon will be a offensive-protector with whole-party buffs.

But thts just my thoughts...

Honestly, from what has been said so far I see the playstyle more closely resembling a radius-blast Earth Elementalist or an axe Warrior with Triple Chop.

if the dervish doesnt have armor equivalent to a warrior it will end up like a noob character like assassin.

If the character is defined as to be one in heart of the battle he should be able to tank .

See what happens in specialised missions like elite deep and urgoz u need a team of 12

out of that 4 goes to monks 1 ss 1 bip 3 element and that leaves us with 3 places

In this scenario warrior are the best bet for they can tank
Monks dont need another freaking assasin instead of a tank that they will have to heal all the time .

You can give the best of skills to dervish but it wont work , he needs to be as powerful as the warrior atleast in armor

You seriously take 4 monks on those missions ???

The reason assassins are hated is because people can't play them properly, it has a LOT to do with the people playing them, and VERY LITTLE to do with the profession.

i can see the shapeshifting skills of the dervish being overrated but looking really cool, and we'll see a huge influx of people going 'oh man... just take the ss dervish. at least its not as bad as an assassin...'

As a monk myself, I'm not sure that there is a lesser evil in this particular case.

well the warrior is able to stand in the fight and survive for a while

the whole thing about assasin is they need to get in put combos and retreat back

But most assassins dont knw that they are not melle warriors , they stand in the middle and start fighting and get killed

that why its difficult to team up with them

2 skills that a warrior has that an assassin does not:

Frenzy + healing sig = disaster
